ECU AMA Makes a Vibrant Comeback at ICC 2025 in New Orleans

An Exciting Return

After being absent for several years, the East Carolina University American Marketing Association (ECU AMA) made a thrilling comeback to the AMA International Collegiate Conference (ICC) in New Orleans for Spring 2025! Our group of 16 enthusiastic students arrived in the lively city, eager to connect with top marketing professionals and learn from their experiences. This year's ICC was not just a learning experience; it was a chance for us to bond with peers, share our stories, and immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of New Orleans.

A Reunion Like No Other

The ICC brought together students and faculty from various collegiate chapters across the nation. For many attendees, this was their first major event since the pandemic disrupted our educational experiences. The excitement in the air was electric as participants engaged in workshops led by industry experts who shared invaluable insights.

Each session covered key topics, including digital marketing strategies and social media trends. For instance, one workshop revealed that 74% of consumers use social media to guide their purchasing decisions. Learning directly from these experts opened our minds to new possibilities in the marketing landscape and taught us skills we can apply immediately in our studies and future careers.

Workshops and Learning Opportunities

This year's ICC featured an impressive array of workshops, with over 15 sessions covering a wide range of topics. Students had the freedom to choose those that matched their interests and career goals. Each workshop was packed with actionable advice and real-world applications, giving students a clearer understanding of how to succeed in the marketing field.

For example, one workshop on content marketing emphasized how a solid content strategy can increase traffic by up to 300% when combined with effective SEO practices. Participants were engaged in interactive discussions, allowing us to absorb vital knowledge while forming connections with fellow students. These friendships and networks will be invaluable as we progress in our careers.

Networking: Building Connections for the Future

One of the most impactful aspects of the ICC was the networking events. These sessions provided students a chance to connect with other AMA chapters and industry leaders. ECUMA members stepped out of their comfort zones and engaged in meaningful conversations that could have lasting effects on their careers.

Attendees highlighted that these moments of connection often led to mentoring opportunities. One participant shared how a conversation with an industry veteran resulted in a summer internship offer. Networking wasn’t just about exchanging contact details; it was a way to share experiences, learn from one another, and build meaningful relationships rooted in a common passion for marketing.

Embracing the Culture of New Orleans

While our primary goal was to learn and network, experiencing the rich culture of New Orleans was a highlight of the trip. Between sessions, we explored the city’s history, vibrant atmosphere, and delectable cuisine.

Strolling down Bourbon Street, enjoying beignets at Café du Monde, and soaking in the sounds of local jazz, we strengthened our bonds as a group. Sharing these experiences made the trip unforgettable and truly enriched our team spirit. The lively energy of New Orleans perfectly complemented the excitement of the ICC, creating a unique environment for learning and fun.

Reflecting on the Experience

As the conference wrapped up, students took a moment to reflect on the impactful lessons learned, the invaluable connections made, and the pure joy experienced in New Orleans. This trip emphasized the importance of stepping beyond our academic routines to embrace opportunities that foster professional and personal growth.

Building on the momentum from the ICC, ECU AMA is eager to integrate the knowledge gained and relationships formed into future initiatives, collaborations, and events. The enthusiasm from the conference has ignited a renewed commitment to excellence, empowering students to approach their studies and careers with fresh insights.

The energy and insights gained from this vibrant event will empower every member as we prepare to tackle future challenges in the marketing arena. Looking ahead, this ICC trip has underscored the significance of community, collaboration, and lifelong learning. Here’s to a bright future for ECU AMA!
